Cyril Maisonnave's Knitted Creations to Discover at Amelie, Maison d'art
Cyril Maisonnave
Cyril Maisonnave's pieces, knitted from metallic threads, incorporate a variety of materials including alum crystals, linen fibers, ceramic, goat hair, and even rhubarb fiber... Like sedimentary layers, they are rooted in the present but evoke the past, resembling cutlery as if embedded in rocks or forgotten at the bottom of the oceans.
"I don't know how to write poetry, so I knit it." The universe of this former knitwear stylist from the Atelier Chardon Savard, where he was both a student and a teacher for over twenty years, is peculiar. Cyril Maisonnave experiments extensively, extending his knitting art to other materials such as copper wire, and encounters like the one with Marie-Hélène Soyer, a decorative enamel artist, illustrate his journey.
