For the New York holidays season, Amelie, Maison d’art present "The Alps" a unique, monumental immersive installation by Atelier d’Offard that blurs the boundaries between art and the natural environment.
Amelie du Chalard, founder of Amélie Maison d’art, invited French New York-based curator Alban Roger to explore the essence of Winter.
The exhibition runs from Saturday December 6th to Saturday January 11th
“With The Alps, we want to offer an immersive experience that transcends the simple contemplation of the works. This exhibition is an invitation to slow down, to marvel at the contrasts and silent beauty of winter.”
Amélie du Chalard, gallery founder
“Winter has always held a deep resonance for me—from my formative years in the Alps to my current life in New York, where it remains my favorite season.
New York winters are a study in contrasts: a crisp, biting air and looming snowstorms threaten to halt the city, yet the bright skies persist, and the city's relentless rhythm never yields. I admire the resilience and elegance with which New Yorkers embrace this season, transforming it into an arena for culture, social gatherings, and quiet beauty.”
Alban Roger, curator of the exhibition
A vision that came to life through the collaboration with Atelier d’Offard, renowned French paper house, who crafted an otherworldly cave-like scenography, transforming our New York gallery space into a hidden, mineralized world. Paper, in its simplicity and purity, embodies the spirit of winter: its crispness, brightness, and quiet strength mirror the season’s elements. As paper fills the expansive gallery space, it reflects winter's all-encompassing presence. The subtle poetry it brings resonates with New York—a city that, even in pause, pulses with life.
