Metamorphoses

January 2021

Metamorphoses.

Metamorphosis is an invitation to see what is at play "beyond the forms" (literally from the Greek Meta and Morpheus), a metaphor for a certain perception of reality, which is that of the permanent change of everything, of the contradiction in everything.

In this, I am faithful to what has been close to my heart since my encounter with the thought of Heraclitus. This complex thought has accompanied me in my work for a long time.

By playing with contradictory notions such as the visible/invisible, the folded/unfolded, the volume/flat, the constructed/deconstructed, the immobile/articulated, all of which are likely to be set in motion at any moment, I try to invent poetic objects, imaginary perspectives, a play of perceptions in an attempt to touch on a form of truth, a juxtaposition of states that a fragment of Heraclitus illustrates so well: "Awake, they sleep".
